Arcane Costume Trivia

I am on the board of the Costume Designers Guild and we are just starting a trade magazine about costume design. They wanted everyone to write an article, but I volunteered to illustrate instead. Here are a couple of images for a regular feature, 'History of Dress A to Z', which lists 5 or 6 interesting definitions of garments, accessories etc., and we are starting of course with "A" (shown are Argyle, Aba, and Aigrette).

Very nice, I just noticed that the top one is a dog, at first it looked like a hooded person of somesort,
also to answer your question about the character a week thing, I'm open to any suggestions, Dave and I have usually just traded ideas around until one sounds good to do. Maybe we can pick one by this weekend for next week or something.

I really can't see the hooded person. Maybe just because I drew it, and know what it is.(?)

ok i see it now... where the ear is is where the face would go and the part where the hair pops out at top is the figures gnarled hand... kinda like a FESTIVE grim reaper figure.. but a real stretch.

looks like hes wearing an argyle apron....

see it now?

sort of. it looks very separate from the argyle part.

Man I really opened a can of worms with the hooded thing. It looks great!
I like how you colored in the shape of the dog black! and the fabric really stands out!

So what do you think about doing an old person for this weeks character design? I'm thinking an old person who is dealing with technology.
